The sixth annual Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation Polar Bear Plunge begins at 9 a.m. Feb. 9 at Fredericksburg City Dock Park, 207 Sophia St.
The event benefits Wounded EOD Warriors and their families, and is sponsored by the City of Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation.
"In addition to great company and a fantastic cause, there will be opportunities to win our costume contest," according the event webpage. The costume categories include:
- Best Male
- Best Female
- Best Group
- Most Patriotic
- Best EOD Themed
- Crowd Favorite
Information on tickets and donations is available online. The cost is $50 per person after January 23 thru the day of the event. Completing the Accident Waiver ahead of time and bringing it with you Saturday will expedite the registration process, officials said.
What to Bring
"We suggest bringing shoes that can be worn into the water, as the ramp can be slippery," officials said online. "A warm change of clothes and a towel are also HIGHLY recommended. In addition, be sure to "like" the PBP Facebook page as a way to keep up-to-date with plunge news."
Parking is limited at the park. There is extra parking available at the Sophia Street Parking Garage, 600 Sophia St., on the corner of Sophia and Wolfe.
For those nonmilitary readers, EOD is a joint service military occupational skill.
