Campaign Funds: Allen Outraised Kaine in Fredericksburg Area
Most recent filing period shows that Allen is outraising Kaine in the Fredericksburg area.
The U.S. Senate race between Tim Kaine (D) and George Allen (R) is neck-and-neck both in the polls and in campaign funds raised from Virginia residents.During the most recent filing period, which ran from May 24 to June 30, Kaine raised $667,000 in donations of $200 or more from Virginians, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, which compiles its data from OpenSecrets.org Allen raised less, with $409,000, according to the data.
Allen outraised Kaine in Fredericksburg area codes, where donors gave his campaign $15,750 compared to $11,415 to Kaine’s. Residents in the 22401 ZIP code donated $14,500 to Allen’s campaign, and residents in the 22404 ZIP code donated $1,250. Kaine raised $10,915 from residents in the 22401 ZIP code and $500 from 22403 ZIP code.
In overall fundraising, Kaine is hanging onto a narrow lead with $3.6 million compared to Allen’s $3.5 million in Virginia.
