First Friday Roundup

Check out these great August shows this First Friday

 

Brush Strokes Gallery - 824 Caroline St. – Embrace the heat of August with Brush Strokes Gallery’s All Member Show “Hot Fun.” Original paintings will show scenes of summer. Enjoy this work during their opening reception from 6-9pm.

Artful Dimensions Gallery - 911 Charles St. – Join Artful Dimensions as the artists show off their newest 3D works in jewelry, glass and mosaics. Their opening reception will be from 6-9pm.

Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center – 1001 Princess Anne St – Stop and listen to the music this Friday from 7-9pm in Market Square. This free outdoor concert will feature Sabor Afrocubano, so be ready to dance to these jazz tunes.

Ponshop Gallery - 712 Caroline St. – Experience art you can wear at Ponshop Gallery this month with their T-Shirt Showcase: “Tailor-Made 2.” T-Shirt designs from Ponshop, Nightmare Inc, Icy Grape Incident Clothing and Somaphony will be on display throughout the month of August. The T-Shirts from Ponshop are adorned with graphics from original paintings of owner Gabriel Pons. Opening reception last from 6-10pm.  

Art First Gallery - 824 Caroline St. – View work from over 30 artists at Art First Gallery’s All Member Show this August. Many artists will be on hand to speak with visitors. The opening reception will be from 6-9pm.

Liberty Town - 916 Liberty St. - This Friday check out Liberty Town’s Summer Juried Art Show “Plein Air.” This exhibit will run through the end of August and will feature several different chosen artists and their original work. The opening reception will be held from 5-9 p.m. 

Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts - 813 Sophia St. – This month in the Frederick Gallery, view work from the John D. Holmfeld Art Collection. There will be a total of 61 works, and Cathy Herndon will be the guest speaker. All artwork was donated from the estate of the late John D. Holmfeld. All pieces are a part of a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting the FCCA Building Fund. Artist Sandra Treggett will be featured in the Member’s Gallery. Her show is titled “From a Color Perspective,” as her work evolves around deep colors and contrasts. The opening reception is from 6-8:30pm.

Wm Mason Violin Shop - 509 Jackson St. - Explore the world of Wm Mason II’s Violin Shop this Friday. With plenty of music to go around and a professional luthier on hand, walking into the shop is a learning experience for all. The shop will hold an opening reception from 6-9 p.m to welcome visitors, players and those who just want to learn more about the world of stringed instruments. 

Central Rappahannock Regional Library – 1201 Caroline St – This month see “Uniquely Fredericksbug,” a biennial event that show arts inspired by the Fredericksburg experience. "This is a show about Fredericksburg, and all the art reflects and depicts the city," says curator Maggie Bice. "There are 83 pieces ranging in mediums of the people, dogs, buildings, flowers - everything about Fredericksburg." The opening reception for the show is from 5:30-7:30pm.
