First Friday Roundup

June brings out colors and nature in downtown art galleries

- 513 Jackson St - The opening reception will be held from 5pm to 9pm. Students from Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford County will display their artwork. 

- 1201 Caroline St - The Atrium Gallery at the library will open it’s walls to visitors this First Friday in an opening reception from 6pm to 9pm. Work from the Figure Drawing Group of Fredericksburg will be displayed throughout June 27th. In addition to the art, visitors can experience and admire the library’s newly refurbished first floor lobby. 

- 824 Caroline St - “People, Places and Things” - This show by featured artist D. Elen Grigg will be displayed at the gallery through July 1st. Her work explores the everyday object and scenario through a unique perspective. The opening reception is from 6pm to 9pm.

- 911 Charles St - Throughout June, the gallery will display work from the 8th grade students at Stafford County Public Schools in the gallery’s Student Sculpture Show. The opening reception will last from 6pm to 9pm. 

- 712 Caroline St - The gallery presents a group show for the month of June. Within this group show is a new featured artist - Julie Maida. This new artist focuses on functional home goods, prints and paintings with strong colors and elegant lines. The opening reception will be from 6pm to 10pm.

- 10908 Courthouse Rd - “Life Lines” - This exhibit by artist Merian C. Stevens will feature both acrylics and watercolor on silk. Her work revolves around the colors and images of nature in summer. Visit the venue to enjoy her view of sunsets and sunrises, and the colors that form her work. 

- 824 Caroline St - “Water and Woods - Real and Imagined” - This exhibit features artists Robyn Ryan and Ruth Ann Loving - two local artists with a love for nature. Their work fits together perfectly with Ryan’s interpretation of wildlife and Loving’s perception of water, especially the ocean. The opening reception is from 6pm to 9pm. 

Liberty Town - 916 Liberty St - This month Liberty Town will feature work from two artists. Michael Dean’s “Wax Works” and Dan Finnegan’s “The good, the bad, and the ugly” - the best and worst of his wood-fired pots - will be on display throughout June at the gallery. The opening reception is from 5pm to 9pm.
