Fredericksburg First Friday Roundup
Avoid the heat and dip into the pool of artwork at the Fredericksburg galleries this Friday.
There's a lot going on this First Friday, so come out early to see it all!
The Creative Side Inc - 513 Jackson St. - This month featured artists include Karlee Lovelace, Summer Pauley and Marianna Smith. Work from other student artists will also be on display, along with face painting, art demos and food. The opening reception is from 5-8 p.m.
Brush Strokes Gallery - 824 Caroline St. - Continue in the spirit of the Fourth of July with Brush Strokes Gallery’s featured artist Joe Wilkinson. His exhibit, entitled “Black & White, A Celebration of Two American Trees,” will include a variety of hand-crafted pieces. Created solely from the Black Walnut and White Oak tree, the show will incorporate bowls, vases and wall hangings. The opening reception runs from 6-9 p.m.
Artful Dimensions Gallery - 911 Charles St. - This Friday explore the newest 3D art in town. Original work from several different artists will be on display. The showroom and individual studios are brimming with talent, so be sure to make this stop. Opening reception is from 6-9 p.m.
Ponshop Gallery - 712 Caroline St. - Enjoy this Friday with art and music at Ponshop Gallery as they kick off their Summer Exhibition. The outdoor “garden space” will be open to the public, and DJ Max will be spinning throughout the night. Check out the latest artwork by Gabriel Pons, along with work from over thirty different artists. The opening reception is from 6-9 p.m.
My Place Latin Grill - 10908 Courthouse Rd. - If you didn’t get a chance to see “Life Lines,” an exhibit by Merian Stevens, last month, be sure to stop by this Friday. The colorful show includes acrylics and watercolor on silk, depicting lines of color, motion and serenity.
Art First Gallery - 824 Caroline St. - This month enjoy work from two featured artists - Audrey Bruno and Gloria Affenit. The exhibit is “Art Pot Pourri,” and will include several original pieces from the artists. Work from other members will also be on display. The opening reception is from 6-9 p.m.
Liberty Town - 916 Liberty St. - This Friday check out Liberty Town’s Summer Juried Art Show “Plein Air.” This exhibit will run through the end of August and will feature several different chosen artists and their original work. The opening reception will be held from 5-9 p.m.
Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts - 813 Sophia St. - This month in the Frederick Gallery, experience the exhibit “Gears, Gadgets and Gizmos.” Juried by Matt Lively, the show is inspired by his unique “construction” paintings and wood collages. In the Members’ Gallery, enjoy work by Shirley Whelan in her show titled “East Coast - Land, Sea and Sky.” The exhibit will feature paintings inspired from travel from Virginia to New England. The opening reception is from 6-9 p.m.
Wm Mason Violin Shop - 509 Jackson St. - Explore the world of Wm Mason II’s Violin Shop this Friday. With plenty of music to go around and a professional luthier on hand, walking into the shop is a learning experience for all. The shop will hold an opening reception from 6-9 p.m to welcome visitors, players and those who just want to learn more about the world of stringed instruments.
Via Colori - Via Tutori - Market Square - This is the first of three workshops leading up to the Via Colori Festival. Local artist and President of the Fredericksburg Museum Ellen Killough will teach the workshop on how to select a subject for street painting. The event starts at 6 p.m., and supplies will be provided.
