Art First Gallery - 824 Caroline St. – Work from both Linda Warshaw and Adam Desio will be on display at Art First Gallery this month. Meet the artists and explore their original work at an opening reception from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
Artful Dimensions Gallery - 911 Charles St. – Join this 3D art gallery as local artist and gallery co-founder, Dee Antil displays her show titled “Rock Candy Mountain.” Antil creates unique jewelry through sterling silver wire around raw materials such as copper, gemstones and precious metal clay. Her creations are one-of-a-kind. The opening reception will be held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Brush Strokes Gallery - 824 Caroline St. – Experience Merian Stevens’ exhibit “FALLing in Place,” this month at Brush Strokes Gallery. Her acrylics, watercolors on silk and scarves captivate the essence of the Fall season through their colors and hues. Opening reception is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
The Creative Side Inc - 513 Jackson St. – This Friday from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. artwork by students from Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford will be displayed at The Creative Side. Art demos, snacks and face painting will also be available.
Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center – Market Square – The next installment of the First Friday Concert Series features steel-band from Washington D.C.: Pan Masters Steel Orchestra. They will play from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and there is free admission to the Museum from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center – 1001 Princess Anne St. – The Fredericksburg Museum announces its newest exhibit, “Picturing the Civil War.” This exhibition will run through Dec. 31 and debuts several pieces from the Museum’s collection of visual arts of the Civil War in Fredericksburg. The exhibition will also explore how the visual arts served both an emotional and commercial purpose after the war.
Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts - 813 Sophia St. – View new work from Leslie Brier in her exhibit, “Cabinet of Curiosities.” Through mixed media collage and 3D assemblage, Brier recreates the Cabinets of Curiosity that were popular during the Victorian Era. Her work puts a modern spin on the concept, and will be sure to interest every viewer. In the Frederick Gallery explore the juried exhibit, “Layers of Color.” The opening reception is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Liberty Town - 916 Liberty St. – See new work from artist Sarah Perry in her exhibit “Curios.” The opening reception is from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m.
Ponshop Gallery - 712 Caroline St. – This month visit Ponshop Studio and Gallery for a wide variety of art. Co-owner Scarlett Pons will show her latest ceramics, and Ponshop’s newest artist Ashleigh Burbidge will display her plush creations. Also featured will be hand painted bowls and trivets by artist Julie Maida. The opening reception will last from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
P. Rose Gallery – 709 Caroline St. – Local artist Carol Iglesias will display her new work of Brittany, Normandy and The Netherlands through Oct. 31. The opening reception will be from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Sophia Street Studios – 1104 Sophia St. – Sophia Street Studios welcomes three new artists: Sue Henderson, Anne Parks and R.L. Klingbeil. These artists will exhibit their work this First Friday in a show titled, “Changing Seasons, Changing Faces.” Opening reception is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Tanya M. Richey Studio Gallery – 817 Caroline St. – Artist Tanya Richey displays her new watercolor portraits of Fredericksburg buildings this First Friday. Depicting both modern and historic buildings, Richey’s opening reception is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Wm Mason Violin Shop - 509 Jackson St. - Explore the world of Wm Mason II’s Violin Shop this Friday. With plenty of music to go around and a professional luthier on hand, walking into the shop is a learning experience for all. The shop will hold an opening reception from 6-9 p.m. to welcome visitors, players and those who just want to learn more about the world of stringed instruments.
2530 Espresso – 415 William St. – Enjoy three African coffees as you browse the art galleries this First Friday. 2530 Espresso will have two coffees from Ethiopia and one from Kenya. There will also be Kenyan made products for sale, and all proceeds benefit Royal Kids School in Kenya.
