Fredericksburg Man Charged With Backing Into Firefighter
The firefighter's knee was inured in the incident.
A Fredericksburg man was charged with felony hit and run and driving on a suspended license Saturday after he was accused of backing into a firefighter in Stafford County who was working on a medical call.
Stafford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said the incident was reported at about 3:43 a.m. in North Stafford on Garrison Woods Drive. He said a vehicle backed out of a parking space and struck the firefighter's knee. The firefighter was taken to a hospital and released. People at the scene tried to get the driver to stop and someone relayed the tag information to the sheriff's office.
Kennedy said a deputy patroling the area saw the vehicle, which was also being pursued by a fire department vehicle at Garrisonville Road and Brafferton Boulevard. Kennedy said the driver told the deputy he was going to Garrison Woods.
Jerrel Cox, 21 of River Road in Fredericksburg, was charged and taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
