The Fredericksburg Police Department is accepting applications for police officers positions that start with a salary of $39,850.
Interested people must complete a city application and provide a resume before close of business on Aug. 24.
The full-time opening involves general police work. The selection process includes a written and physical agility tests, medical, psychological examinations and polygraph examinations, verification of previous work performance and driving history, background reviews and two oral review boards.
Applicants are required to have:
- A valid Virginia driver’s license,
- High school diploma or GED and
- One year’s experience involving public contact.
Applicants will also have to take a Body Fat Index test and will have to meet the following standard: Males – No more than 23 percent body fat; Females – No more than 30 percent body fat.
Applicants who have used tobacco products more than 10 times in the previous 12 months will not qualify. All applicants must be available Sept. 8 for the first phase of testing. Preference is given to those already possessing a Department of Criminal Justice Services Law Enforcement certificate and to those who are enrolled in the pre-employment program at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy. The Fredericksburg Police Department provides paid incentives for advanced education and bilingual abilities.
