Jeffries Held on Outstanding Felony Arrest Warrants
John Wesley Jeffries was arrested in Fredericksburg.
John Wesley Jeffries was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the home of a known associate in the 2000 block of Lafayette Blvd, according to law enforcement officials.
"Jeffries was arrested after detectives observed him slipping out of the window of a residence," Capt. Jeff Pearce, Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department spokesman, said. "After a short foot chase, Jeffries surrendered and was taken into custody without incident," he said.
"Jeffries is currently being held on outstanding felony arrest warrants out of Spotsylvania County for abduction, attempted malicious wounding and strangulation," Pearce said.
Jeffries is also a person of interest in the double homicide discovered Sunday in Fauquier County.
"This was truly a joint effort between law enforcement and the public in getting information out to the citizens and receiving assistance in the form of tips and intelligence relating to the whereabouts of Mr. Jeffries,” Sheriff Roger Harris said.
The arrest came at the culmination of a joint investigative effort between the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Fredericksburg Police Department, the Virginia State Police, the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
