Fredericksburg police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a Spotsylvania woman, then cut her boyfriend's hand with a box cutter.
The woman was in her car around 2:40 a.m. Sept. 8 at the 1700 block of Lafayette Blvd when a man approached her and offered her money for sex. The woman, who had just returned to her friend's apartment after a trip to the store, refused.
The man then reached inside the car and started fondling her butt, said Natatia Bledsoe, a public information officer with the Fredericksburg Police Department. The man walked away after she screamed.
The woman then ran into the apartment and woke up her boyfriend. The boyfriend went outside to look for the suspect and found him inside a green Mitsubishi Gallant. When the boyfriend confronted the man, he leaned into the car and placed his hands on the window frame.
The suspect then reportedly cut the boyfriend’s left hand with a box cutter and sped away.
The police are now looking for a slender Hispanic male in his 20’s, approximately 5-foot-5, with dark spikey hair.
