News outlets around the world report a new Pope has been chosen by the 115 cardinal electors meeting in Rome.
"The name of the new leader of the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics was expected to be announced in around half an hour from the central balcony of St. Peter's Basilica," Reuters reported at 2:52 p.m. EDT.
Fredericksburg Catholics have been praying for the conclave and their choice.
