On person died at the scene and another was taken to Mary Washington Hospital for serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash involving a red convertible Monday morning in the 1000 block of Manning Drive, said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.

Geller said the crash happened at 11:46 a.m. on Manning Drive, which is just east of U.S. 1 near Falmouth in south Stafford County. She said the crash reconstruction team is assisting in the investigation.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office released an alert today that said the intersection of Manning Drive and U.S. 1 and the intersection of Thomas Jefferson Place and Manning Drive have been shut down for the investigation.
