Overturned Tractor-Trailer Shuts Down I95 NB Ramp to Rt. 3 W

There are no injuries, according to the fire department.

A tractor-trailer hauling flower bulbs overturned at about 11 a.m. Thursday, forcing closure of the I95 northbound ramp to westbound Rt. 3, according to Michael Jones, Fredericksburg Deputy Fire Chief.

"The tractor-trailer is actively leaking diesel fuel from its fuel tank," Jones said. Although it is a refrigerated unit, there is no Freon leak, Jones said.  The fire department has set up a diking and berm system.

There are no injuries. "A medical unit checked out the truck driver, but he refused treatment," Jones said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.  The ramp will be shut down for some time, and motorists should avoid the area.

The Virginia State Police and the Fredericksburg Police Department are on the scene for traffic control.  VDOT has been notified.

My wife wants to know if there are any flower bulbs lying around and if she can help with the "biological clean-up"?

Stan, no bulbs when I arrived on the scene. It will be interesting to see if there are any extra blooms in the area this spring. Glad no one was hurt.
