Updated: Road Conditions Are Clear

VDOT has applied chemicals and abrasive to the roadways but conditions are still slippery in some areas.

Updated 11:40 a.m.: The Virginia Department of Transportation crews have cleared all primary roads and Interstate 95. Some roads with lower traffic volumes could still have patches of slush and extra caution should still be used when driving on bridges and overpasses.

Up to a few inches of snow fell in some parts of this region, but Fredericksburg only got a light dusting of the white stuff on Sunday.

The Virginia Department of Transportation said today that crews were out overnight plowing and applying chemicals to the highways. Current conditions on Interstate 95 and primary roads are mostly wet, and there is a good potential for slippery conditions on ramps, bridges and overpasses.

The temperature is expected to reach in the 40s today. Motorists are still asked to stay alert for icy conditions on roads that carry a lower volume of traffic, as well as ramps, bridges and overpasses.
