Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Flash Food Warning For Fredericksburg Area
Numerous streams, roadways and creeks could flood. Be cautious.
There is a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for the Fredericksburg area until 6:45 p.m. and a flash flood warning in effect until 9 p.m. for Fredericksburg, northeastern Spotsylvania County and south central Stafford County, according to the National Weather Service.
Flash flood prone areas include: Benchmark Road at Tidewater Trail, White Oak Run, Muddy Creek, Snow Creek, Massaponnax Creek, Hazel Run, Long Branch, Little Falls Run, Falls Run, Fall Quarry Run and England Run.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall can cause flash flooding of these creeks, streams and roadways.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road.

1.4 inches of rain fell in that quick burst of downpour rain, according to UMW's weather station.

That was the weirdest storm I've ever seen. We were driving from Central Park to Spotsy and we could see it was storming a quarter mile ahead of us but it was calm where we were. Then we'd turn down a road and the opposite would happen.
By the time we got home the sidewalks were completely dry, although we saw a couple lightning strikes fairly close. Crazy weather this year all-around.

Yes, the reports were rain in downtown, nothing in stafford or spotsy and then rain in spotsy and nothing in fxbg. When I lived in Colorado there was a lot of storms like that where you could see rain in the background but not ahead.

I didn't notice the rain in Spotsy later, but when I looked out the window the sidewalk was wet. We definitely needed the rain though so I'm not complaining.
