Spotsylvania Man Charged In Larceny Case
Fredericksburg's police report for Thursday June 28.
A Spotsylvania man was arrested early this morning after items believed to have been stolen from two vehicles parked at the Super 8 Motel were found in a minivan he had crashed nearby.
Fredericksburg Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said officers originally responded at 12:20 a.m. to the Super 8 Motel at 3002 Mall Ct. for a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot. Officers found a minivan straddling a retaining wall between the Super 8 and Best Western. The driver of the minivan was not in the vehicle, but the motel clerk provided a description of him. While officers were investigating the crash, they discovered two vehicles with broken windows.
"The vehicles were identified as belonging to guests, and property that had been stolen from one of the vandalized vehicles was subsequently found inside the crashed minivan," Bledsoe said.
Police found a man who matched the clerks description in the parking lot of the Best Western and he was arrested. Robert Sanchez, 37, was charged with public intoxication, larceny from a vehicle, and two counts of destruction of property. Bledsoe said Sanchez was also served with a warrant from Chesterfield County charging him with assault and battery.
