Suspects Linked to 69 Vehicle Break-Ins

Spotsylvania County Sheriff's deputies arrested three men for a string of larcenies.

Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Deputies have arrested three suspects linked to 69 vehicle break-ins in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford, according to Capt. Jeffery Pearce, Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

"The investigation took a fortunate turn, when a vehicle was stopped by a patrol deputy for a routine traffic violation," Pearce said in a release.  "Upon closer inspection, stolen property from several locations was recognized by the deputy, and detectives responded to the location," he said.

Further investigation revealed the three suspects had allegedly been responsible for a string of larcenies from vehicles in several neighborhoods, including the Fox Point, Crown Grant, Lees Park, Hamilton’s Crossing, Lee’s Crossing, Pelham’s Crossing and Park Wood subdivisions.

The three suspects are identified as Deandre Rice, 22; Eugene Evans, 18; and Antoneio Chapman, 19.

"Detectives have recovered some of the stolen property and will be contacting the victims to arrange for the return of their belongings," Pearce said.

Congratulations and thank you to the detectives. Now if we could just get stupid people to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight we might make these thefts occur less frequently so the police can focus on more significant issues.
