UMW Grad Making a Difference a World Away

Founder of Students Helping Honduras profiled by Journey of Action

Mini-documentary team Journey of Action, composed of siblings Kassidy and Ryan Brown, are in the midst of a journey from Alaska to Argentina highlighting the work of young social and charity entrepreneurs across the Americas. The team is currently in the midst of their South American leg of the journey.

Along the way, they stopped in El Progresso, Honduras to meet with 2007 University of Mary Washington grad Shin Fujiyama, founder of the group . Since founding the group in 2007, the group has raised more than $1 million by leveraging donations from nearly 100 schools across the world. The money is used to help build schools and improve other community resources for impoverished towns across Honduras. In this video, the Brown siblings  speak with Fujiyama about his vision for the future of SHH, El Progresso and Honduras as a whole.
