Viewfinder: Rappahannock Baptisms

Hundreds gather from area evangelical churches to be baptized in river.

A beautiful June Saturday afternoon saw more than two dozen members of the Evangelical Apostles and Prophets Church baptized into their faith on the banks of the Rappahannock River. The ceremony took place at Old Mill Park, witnessed by hundreds of family members and fellow church members from all over Northern Virginia. After a spirited sermon during a Spanish language service at the park pavilion, and speeches from each baptismal candidate explained why they were choosing to enter the faith, the crowd was led to the shore for the full immersion river baptisms. Fredericksburg Patch was on hand to document the event, and returned with this series of photos.
