VRE Cancels Fredericksburg Santa Train

Battle of Fredericksburg Anniversary is the same weekend.

Fredericksburg residents have already been planning for the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) annual Santa Train.  But this year, Santa and Mrs. Clause are not coming to the City.

"Due to the Battle of Fredericksburg Anniversary being held on the same weekend as Santa Trains, we will be operating out of Leeland Road this year, instead of Fredericksburg," announced VRE on its website.

The trains will run from Burke Centre, Leeland Road, Manassas and Woodbridge on Saturday, Dec. 8, according to VRE.

It's not cancelled folks. That's a very misleading headline. Departure has been moved to Leeland Station instead. This avoids the inherent problems overlapping events would create.

You're correct, April. There will be a Santa Train, but not from the Fredericksburg station this year due to the sesquicentennial celebration in town.
