Wiggle Worms Will Have Space Near Macy's in Mall
The Cafaro Company and the leasing agent worked with Wiggle Worms to find them new space in the Spotsylvania Towne Centre after parents complained about the mall terminating the child care center's lease.
Wiggle Worms will relocate to a 1,700-square-foot space near Macy's at the Spotsylvania Towne Centre, the mall owners announced today.
Earlier in the day a group of parents protested the towne centre's decision to terminate Wiggle Worms' lease at the 4,200-square-foot space they utilize now near Costco. The parents' wishes, and Wiggle Worms' co-owner Chrissy Gibbs' hopes, were answered less than six hours later.
Joe Bell, director of corporate communications for the mall owner Cafaro Cos., said Wiggle Worms will move after June 22 to space near Macy’s and the Spotsylvania Conference Center. Bell said the move is necessary because several new retailers are coming to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre and several merchants will be shifting locations in the process. He said Wiggle Worms was always under a temporary lease.
“I’m ecstatic”, said Wiggle Worms owner Chrissy Gibbs. “Everybody has been so supportive of us. I’m very grateful.”
Wiggle Worms is a place where parents can drop of their kids while they shop, go to a movie, have dinner or a date. The business charges by the hour, Gibbs said, and they are open seven days a week during mall hours.
"We're very glad we were able to find a new home for Wiggle Worms at Spotsylvania Towne Centre," Bell said. "Our staff appreciates the valuable service this business provides, and how much its customers love it."
Gibbs posted on her business Facebook page immediately upon hearing the news: WE HAVE A HOME!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOU CAFARO CO FOR BELIEVING IN US!!!!
Melissa Palmertree, who organized a Save Wiggle Worms Facebook page and the protest Friday morning, said she, too, is ecstatic and thankful.
"I started the Save Wiggle Worms page to ensure that Wiggle Worms found a new space."
As a mom of three kids, she said it is difficult to shop and run errands.
"Wiggle Worms is the only place I trust to leave my kids. They love it, they beg to go there, and it would be a huge loss for my family," she said. "For others, I know many other families feel exactly as I do."
