Participants will be able to come to school and eat breakfast with their children. Hugh Mercer Issues First School Day Tips Administrators at Hugh Mercer Elementary School have issued some advice to parents to help ensure a smooth transition into academic life. Parents are asked not to walk their children to their classrooms nor visit them during lunchtime for the first two weeks of school. Students at Walker Grant Middle School will be waking the earliest to catch the bus, with the first stop scheduled for 6:34 a.m. at the corner of Stafford Avenue and Brent Street or Lafayette Blvd. and St. Paul Street, depending on which bus the student takes.
