United Way Tax Volunteer Question & Answer Question 12/11/2013

What We Do:

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program provided by Rappahannock United Way is one of many initiatives aimed at achieving our goal that more households emerge from poverty and achieve greater financial stability.

Anyone who files a basic tax return and has a household income of less than $52,000 can have taxes prepared at one of the VITA sites.

Last year, Rappahannock United Way and the Financial Stability Coalition prepared more than 1,200 tax returns, bringing approximately $1.7 million in tax refunds to our local community members, and saving an estimated $215,000 in tax preparation fees.

Volunteers:

Our volunteers provide FREE income tax preparation assistance to individuals and families with a household income of less than $51,000 a year. In addition to providing free tax preparation, our volunteers work to ensure everyone in the community receives all of the tax credits and deductions for which they are eligible.
