Naked Church Congregation Bares it All for Christ

While Virginia freezes, congregants find warmth in worshipping in the nude.

A little church in Virginia is making a name for itself by not caring about holy clothes or clothes with holes.

The church's congregants, in fact, do not care about clothes at all. Not when worshipping, anyway.

While Virginia prepares for another round of snow and cold, NBC12 brings the story of White Tail Chapel in Southampton, where people find warmth in worshipping just the way they were brought into the world: naked.

Pastor Allen Parker told the station it's not about the clothes but rather about baring his soul to Christ and leading his flock down that path of righteousness, no matter what they're wearing.

The appropriately named Katie and Robert Church married at White Tail Chapel and say the church has given them a sense of Christian community with none of the pretense of a traditional church.

"Once we were married, and we were here, this whole place became our family," Katie Church told the station. "I feel like I can turn to anyone in this church, or even in this park, and they will be there to help me."

"People are more open as far as hearing the word of God, and speaking the word of God," agreed Robert Church.

Okay, this is pathetic. They are ignoring many passages of the Bible that require modesty. It is disrespectful to God to worship before His altar in the nude. It also sets a stumbling block before people who may experience lust while attending the church service. This is vulgar and stupid.

i sure hope no children go to that church, and if they do (which i'm sure they do) there is laws against that sort of thing.

I think it is hilarious. A hot chick walks in and the guys get boners. Praise Jesus.

Church attendance won't be the only thing to go up.

Adam and Eve the original couple made by God stood naked before Him. They wore no clothes until after they committed the sin of eating the apple. Perhaps we should stand naked before God as Adam and Eve did, He did create us in His image as beautiful creatures. The human body is a thing of beauty and we should not be ashamed of showing it.

Clothes provide hiding places. They almost encourage us to be "deceitful". When you are naked you learn to live with who you are. When we talk about "low self esteem", it really means "self-loathing" and most people have a degree of it . Nudity forces a person to learn to accept themselves. If they don't like what they see, they should do whatever they can to improve what they can and accept what they cannot. Our culture is "sick" in that it is inclined to make things vulgar because vulgarity sells. Aboriginal cultures have a lot less hang ups about nudity than advanced cultures. I think we can thank both the religions and the sex-marketers for our "unhealthy" attitude towards nudity. I was extremely skinny as a kid and was embarrassed to be seen with short sleeve shirts and shorts. Later, I had a significant leg operation that left a nasty scar. That compounded my problems. It was not until I met a woman that I married in my 40s and went to a "clothing optional" hot springs did I find "self acceptance". I found that most people conducted themselves very relaxed and did NOT spend their time "gawking" at naked bodies. I take my clothes off as much as I can now. I find that I am healthier, both physically and emotionally. I take better care of my body, too, since I no longer hide it. The people that I have met in the "nudist" community have some of the healthiest attitudes I have ever seen. Since they are not constantly dealing with nudity from a "sexual" perspective, it would be rare to see an erection. I think nudists may actually have better sex too because the naked body does give them a feeling of sensuality because of its contact with the sun, breezes and all of the other aspects of nature. Most criticism of "alternative" lifestyles comes from fear and/or ignorance. Curiosity might be what gets a person there the first time, but the feeling of "true freedom" and relaxation gets you hooked. Try it just one time and see how you feel afterward. God bless.

That is NOT the type of "nudism" that I have experienced by myself or any group that I have been involved with. From the standpoint of Christian values, I think they have been the best. Most are married and their children are very well adjusted without the typical teenage view of sexuality. Their adolescence tends to be more normal and not driven by sex like most teenagers of the day. The naked body is NOT something new to them. It just is what it is. While people who constantly hide behind clothing are "titillated" by the slightest glimpse of bare skin.

Modesty is not what one wears of does not wear. Modesty is behavior or how one acts. Most all the nudists I have ever been around have always acted with modesty.

"Modesty is not what one wears of does not wear. Modesty is behavior or how one acts. Most all the nudists I have ever been around have always acted with modesty." Yeah, I am pretty sure you are making that all up as you go along. What you choose to wear IS a behavior. If a woman knowingly bares her breasts in church, or a man knowingly exposes his genitals, by definition that is immodest. Walking around in the nude is not a neutral act. God clothed Adam and Eve Himself after they sinned. And don't tell me Jesus released us from the need to wear modest clothing, because he certainly wasn't walking around naked after his resurrection. In our society and culture (and in pretty much every civilized society of the world), baring your PRIVATE parts is considered immodest at best and offensive or even criminal at worst. Going before God's altar nude BY CHOICE shows serious disrespect. He already knows what you look like naked. You are simply being defiant by stripping off your clothes and "worshipping."

"Democrats are now in control..." Nope. But they sure are trying. What was one of the first things they tried to do in January? Pass more gun control. Did it work? Not even close. Funny thing about these Democrats--they are all centered around areas heavily dependent on government spending and government jobs, and they generally were not born and raised here but instead moved here because of the better economy, lower taxes, and lower cost of living compared to other Democrat-controlled states like Maryland, California, and the New England states. But instead of realizing how their politics negatively affects a region's economy and crime rate, they keep on voting the same way they did in those economic and criminal cesspools they originally came from. Geniuses, all of them.

I saw a report of a Pentacostal Church where they regularly handle rattle snakes in church. And the pastor got bit and died and they thought it was appropriate. If you are not a sinner the lord will save you from snake bite poison and death. So their pastor apparently was a sinner. I wondet about a pastor with a beeer belly dancing around while saying he honors and follows Jesus. Do you think Jesus did that? And since he was preaching to souls why let everything hang out? But some, in opposition ot Mohammed kill others to be saved. People with deep mental troubles look for ways to act out their inner self and frequently do it in the name of religion. For why not act out if you can say God wants you to...play with snakes or sharks. Or dance nude all night or all morning loong. Especially when you can say God made me do it. I wonder if the snake handlers do it nude too. But it better than blowing oneself up in the name of God.
