Central Rappahannock Regional Library will host a Festival of Community Makers on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the England Run Branch.

Kicking off the festival at 2 p.m. will be Mark Frauenfelder, author of "Made by Hand: My Adventures in the World of Do-It-Yourself," the book chosen for this year’s community-wide Rappahannock Reads.

Frauenfelder is the editor-in-chief of MAKE magazine, and founder and co-editor of the popular blog Boing Boing.  He will talk about “people making cool stuff for the love of making” and present the new tools and technologies that are driving innovation and giving individuals and small groups the ability to create amazing things that would have been out of their reach a few years ago.  A book signing will follow.

Dozens of community groups and individual makers will demonstrate and share their projects from 3 - 5 p.m.  These will include robotics, 3-D printing, pottery, beekeeping, micro brewing, cheese making, coffee roasting, knitting and quilting, kid-friendly engineering and computer programming, jewelry making, and comics writing.
