Mary Washington Healthcare Salutes Veterans on Veterans Day

Veterans Day flag ceremonies followed by receptions will be held at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) invites the community to join them in saluting veterans at two flag ceremonies on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11.

An 8 a.m. Raising of the Colors ceremony and a 5 p.m. Retiring of the Colors ceremony will be held at the flag poles outside Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital.

During the morning ceremonies “The Star Spangled Banner” will be sung:

  • At Stafford Hospital by Anthony Campbell, the spouse of a veteran who works at MWHC.
  • At Mary Washington Hospital by Ed Rodriguez, an RN at Mary Washington and a U.S. Army veteran.
Fred Rankin, chief executive officer, will reaffirm Mary Washington Healthcare’s commitment to Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) during the morning ceremony at Mary Washington Hospital.

The Marine Corps Base Quantico ceremonial unit will raise and retire the colors at the Stafford Hospital ceremonies.

Following each 10-minute morning and evening ceremony, the public is invited to receptions in the Stafford Hospital lobby and in the Mary Washington Hospital atrium.

The Veterans Day events are sponsored by the newly formed MWHC Veteran Champion Group whose members are veterans or currently serving in the National Guard or Reserves. The group was formed to recognize and support Associates who are veterans and current service members.

Mary Washington Hospital is located at 1001 Sam Perry Blvd. in Fredericksburg.

Stafford Hospital is located at 101 Hospital Center Blvd. in Stafford.
