Stay Off the Road Once Snow Starts, Says Virginia Department of Transportation

VDOT preparing equipment and materials, staging trucks and applying salt and sand.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is preparing for the worst as a last blast of winter is forecasted for Sunday night ant Monday morning.

VDOT warns that driving may become hazardous and drivers should stay off the road once snow starts.

The National Weather Service is currently predicting up to 8 inches of snow in Fredericksburg by the end of the storm Monday.

VDOT crews were mobilizing Sunday, according to a statement, preparing equipment and materials, and staging trucks for quick deployment.

Crews will focus efforts first on those roads that carry the most traffic, according to VDOT, including interstates, primary roads and major secondary roads.
