Timeline for Fredericksburg Region Snow, Below Zero Wind Chill
Snow, extreme cold will make travel dangerous, the NWS said.
A winter storm warning, wind chill advisory and hazardous weather outlook are in effect for the Fredericksburg region, the National Weather Service reports.
The Fredericksburg region could see four to eight inches of snow accumulation by 11 p.m. Tuesday night, Jan. 21.
A wind chill advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. this evening through noon Wednesday. With temperatures in the 20s today, dropping into the teens this evening and in the single digits overnight, wind chills will be five to 15 degrees below zero.
"Significant amounts of snow will make travel dangerous," the NWS said. "Only travel in an emergency." If you must travel, make sure your gas tank is filled. In addition, stock your vehicle with a flashlight, food, water and a blanket, in case of an emergency.
Take precautions for the wind chill, too. "Very cold air and strong winds will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia, if precautions are not taken," the NWS said. "If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves."
