Traffic Delays Expected for Silver Funeral

Traffic delays expected during funeral for real estate magnate.

The funeral of 86-year-old Carl Silver, who built a real estate empire in the Fredericksburg region which made him one of the richest men in Virginia, will likely cause some traffic delays. A statement released by Fredericksburg Public Information Officer Natatia Bledsoe lays out the details:

The funeral of Mr. Carl Silver tomorrow is expected to cause traffic delays in Fredericksburg.  Mr. Silver’s service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am Friday at the Expo Center.  It is unknown how long the service is expected to last.  The procession will leave the Expo Center and travel via the Carl D Silver Pkwy to Plank Road eastbound.  Interment is at Oak Hill Cemetery at Plank Rd and Huntington Hills Drive.  Once the procession begins, all of the intersections along the route will be controlled, either with police officers manually directing traffic or with traffic engineers manipulating the signals.  Motorists should anticipate delays and temporarily blocked traffic on both Plank Rd and Carl D Silver Pkwy from noon until 2:00 pm or perhaps longer.
