WEATHER ALERT: Virginia and Metro DC

Storms and high winds blowing into Virginia.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. Wednesday for most of Virginia and the Washington metro area.

The alert comes on top of a wind advisory that expires at 11 a.m. Thursday, with warnings of gusts up to 50 MPH.

The weather has been volatile across the region, and that looks to continue. Temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing Wednesday night, fall short of 40 degrees on Thursday, then shoot back up to the upper 50s on Friday.
