Winter Weather Advisory for Fredericksburg Region

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory from 8 a.m. Sunday through 7 a.m. Monday. 

Areas west of I-95 are warned of wintry precipitation changing to freezing rain by Sunday afternoon, with significant ice accumulations probable Sunday night.

Areas along and east of I-95 can expect wintry precipation changing over to freezing rain Sunday afternoon.

Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible, the NWS said.  Hazardous travel conditions and power outages are possible, due to ice.

Rain is expected Monday. The high will be near 44..

Drove from downtown Fredericksburg to Geico just now (Noon). Avoid side roads with steep inclines as they are impossible to drive on. Conditions on Rt. 3, I-95, and 17 are passable slush and appear to have been treated, but traffic is moving more slowly than normal.
