Winter Storm Likely for Fredericksburg: Weather Forecast, Timeline

The South prepares again for a tough snow storm, and this one could have plans for Virginia, too.

You may be seeing Easter candy commercials on television, but don't be fooled: More winter weather may be on its way to the area.

A new winter storm, Pax, has southern states on alert, but the extended forecast should put locals on notice as snow and ice is expected to move into Virginia on Wednesday and Thursday.

The current forecast for Fredericksburg from the National Weather Service calls for a 90 percent chance of snow Wednesday night and snow and sleet Thursday morning, followed by rain and snow in the afternoon and snow showers possible Thursday night.

The forecast discussion from the NWS suggests the severity of the storm is difficult to measure, but the more likely scenario, "would bring significant amounts of precipitation to the area, causing the potential for a major winter storm."
