Community Artists Series: Fiber Art and Quilt National

An exhibit featuring many different types of fiber art will be held in the Museum's Mansard Gallery. This exhibit will feature the works of local fiber artists Rita Brown, Erin Cork, Barbara Posey, Lynette L. Reed, Florence Ridderhof, Fran Slaterbeck, and Elizabeth Woodford.

The Fredericksburg Area Museum will also host a series of fiber art demonstrations by members of the Fredericksburg Spinners and Weavers Guild. The demonstrations will be held in the Museum Store on 215 William Street. On October 6th, Rita Brown will perform a tapestry weaving from 12-4. Susan Tyler will perform a basket weaving October 20th, and Barbara Posey will show needlefelting on October 27th, along with Lynette Reed's silk scarf painting. All work will be for sale throughout December. A special Second Saturday program devoted to quilting will be held on October 13 from 1-3.

A special lecture on art quilts with Quilt National exhibitor Dominie Nash is planned for October 23 at 7 p.m.  Stay after the lecture for a tour of the exhibit with Ms. Nash.
