ALDI Opening Store on Rt. 17

Discount grocer to open Fredericksburg store Jan. 31.

ALDI will open its third Fredericksburg location at the end of the month at 1030 Warrenton Rd. (Rt. 17).

To celebrate, the grocery chain will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Jan. 31, followed by an 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. open house. The store will also be sponsoring a grand-opening sweepstakes.

"The on-site grand opening sweepstakes will be a chance for shoppers to enter to win one of five game day themed prize packs, which will include ALDI exclusive brand products that are must-haves for hosting a football gathering, as well as a $25 gift certificate to ALDI," said Hannah Dewey, public relations executive. Sweepstakes rules will be available on-site at the grand opening.

ALDI says it eliminates overhead costs by offering smart practices, such as a cart rental system through which shoppers insert a quarter to release a cart and receive the quarter back upon the cart’s return. Other cost-saving practices include a smaller store footprint, open carton displays and encouragement of customers to bring their own shopping bags.

ALDI operates more than 1,200 US stores in 32 states, primarily from Kansas to the East Coast.  The company says it offers a Double Guarantee: If for any reason a customer is not 100 percent satisfied with any ALDI food product, ALDI will replace the product and refund the purchase price.
