Fredericksburg Seeking 'Director of Public Transit'

The City of Fredericksburg invites interested applicants to apply for the position of Director of Public Transit.

The Director of Public Transit is the lead management position for FREDericksburg Regional Transit, the public transit system that serves the City of Fredericksburg, and the counties of Caroline, Spotsylvania and Stafford.

The Director of the Fredericksburg Regional Transit leads a talented team of administrative, management and transit professionals who provide high quality public transportation in the Fredericksburg service area.

The Director oversees all day-to-day operations of FRED Transit and is involved in short and long range planning and managing the organization, operational safety and security, policy development and implementation, budget development and administration, development of key staff, capital improvements planning and execution, facility and organizational expansion, service delivery and other administrative functions for FRED Transit.

The Director is directly responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service, management of an increasingly complex public transportation system that must meet both Federal and State regulatory standards.

The Director also serves as a lead official in communicating with the City Council and County Supervisors. The Director serves under the direct supervision of the City Manager.
