Lodging Report Says Local Hotels Healthy in 2010

Report says local hotels saw big gains last year.

Aided by adjustments to the federal government's per diem and an increase in business travel, Fredericksburg's hotels saw growth last year in three important lodging industry measurements.

According to a report issued by Smith Travel Data Report, local hotel occupancy levels rose by 2.2 percent, while the average daily rates received by city hotels increased by 3.4 percent. Revenue per available room also jumped by 5.7 percent for city hotels.

In a memo, City Manager Beverly Cameron said that the revenue per available room is "the single most important measure of success by hoteliers." He also said that the new hotel has also seen its fortunes improve over the last year.
