Two Fredericksburg Companies Among Virginia's Fastest Growing: 2013 in Review

Harkcon Inc. and CORTEK Inc. named to Virginia's Fantastic 50.

Harkcon Inc. and CORTEK Inc. are on the Virginia Chamber of Commerce
2013 list of Virginia's fastest growing companies: Virginia's Fantastic 50.

"The 2013 Fantastic 50 list was compiled by comparing the revenue growth from 2008 through 2011," Robert Powell wrote in Virginia Business.  "Those years included the low point of the Great Recession and the first two years of the recovery."

Harkcon Inc. is number 31 on the list.  The veteran-owned government services company was founded in 2005.  The company's 2011 revenue was just over $5.3 million, putting its 2008-11 growth at 179.26 percent. 

Harkcon was also named to the 2013 Inc. 5000 list as one of the nation's fastest growing private companies (#1669), Top 100 Government Service Companies (#94) and Top 100 Virginia Companies (#98).

CORTEK, Inc. is number 39 on Virginia's list.  The defense contracting company was established in 2003 and had 40 staff as of 2011.  The company had just over $7.4 million in revenue in 2011.  Its 2008-11 growth was 149.45 percent.

CORTEK was also named one of the best places to work in Virginia by Best Companies Group for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
