RAAI Poinsettias On Sale Now

Rappahannock Adult Activities, Inc. (RAAI) is currently accepting orders for holiday poinsettias. Proceeds from the sale of poinsettias support day programs for adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. RAAI is a program of Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) and is a member agency of the Rappahannock United Way.

 

A new six-inch “Jingle Bell” poinsettia (red and white speckled) is available this year. Six-inch poinsettias are also available in red, white, pink, and a pink-white combination for only $10.00 each. Four-inch red poinsettias are available for $5.00 each. Handmade bows are available in red, white, and pink at $0.75 each. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to Horticulture Specialist Melessa Suder, “Purchasing poinsettias from Rappahannock Adult Activities helps to supports adults with an intellectual disability. These individuals take great pride in their work and look forward to the opportunity be more involved in the community as they deliver the beautiful poinsettias.”

The poinsettias will be available beginning Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Participants in RAAI’s day support program can make arrangements for weekday delivery of orders of five or more poinsettias. Orders of less than five poinsettias are available for pick-up between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at 750 Kings Highway, Fredericksburg. The last day for delivery is Friday, December 20, 2013.

 

Rappahannock Adult Activities, Inc. is a community-based developmental day program that promotes dignity, independence, individualization, inclusion, and productivity of people with intellectual disability in their home communities.

Founded in 1970, the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) provides public mental health, intellectual disability, substance abuse, and prevention/early intervention services to the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford. RACSB operates five outpatient clinics which provide individual, group and family therapy; specialized counseling and case management services; psychological assessment; 24-hour crisis intervention; and medication management services. RACSB operates 11 group homes for adults with intellectual disability providing 24-hour intensive and structured support. RACSB also offers mental health day support, residential services, and crisis stabilization at The Sunshine Lady House for Mental Health Wellness & Recovery. The Parent-Education – Infant Development Program provides developmental, physical, occupational, and speech therapies as well as service coordination to infants and toddlers with developmental delays.
