Calories In, Calories Out

Losing weight is all about calories in and calories out. You need a calorie deficit to shed the pounds. What is a calorie? It is a unit of energy. They are obtained from food and are used by your body to perform all activities. When you take in food, it converts to calories that are stored in fat. When you exercise, you burn calories. To lose fat, you have to either eat less or move more.

The average woman (23-50 yo) maintains her current weight by taking in 2000-2100 calories per day. To lose one pound of fat a week, you must have a daily calorie deficit of 500 below maintenance. This is done by either decreasing the amount you take in or exercising so that you use more energy… calories in and calories out. Happy losing!
