Plan for Flight Delays Due to Rain, Snow

Rain Tuesday evening is expected to change into heavy, wet snow in the early morning hours Wednesday.

Rain and snow moving across the Midwest into the area will mean flight delays and cancelations at Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) later today.

Weather in and around Chicago is affecting flights from Reagan, Dulles and BWI airports. Specifically, the Federal Aviation Administration is reporting delays at Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports, Milwaukee and Minneapolis-St. Paul.

In the Fredericksburg area rain is expected before 10 p.m., then rain and snow between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., then snow after 2 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.  Two to 4 inches is possible.

The DC metro area could see 4 - 7 inches of snow before the system moves out late Wednesday. Areas to the north and west could get more snow. 

Thursday will be mostly sunny and slightly warmer, with temperatures climbing into the low 40s.
