Four Charged in Spotsylvania Pharmacy Robberies

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office believes it has solved a July 28 robbery at Walgreens Pharmacy with the help of two Culpeper law enforcement agencies.

Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office Lt. Troy Skebo said Detective Ed Lunsford received information about the robbery from the Culeper Sheriff's Office and the Culpeper Police Department about potential suspects in the case. On Aug. 7, Spotsylvania authorities arrested four people—Randall Moorehead, 21, Dustin Mark Bowers, 20,  and Claude Anthony Denney, 27—from Culpeper and charged them each with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. The Culpeper Sheriff's Office, Culpeper Police Department and Pope County Sheriff's Office in Arkansas assisted Spotsylvania authorities in the arrests. 

"The information obtained from these agencies resulted in a search warrant at one of the suspect’s residence in Culpeper County," Skebo said.

At about 7:55 p.m. on July 28 pharmacy employees at the Walgreens on 5650 Plank Rd. told Spotsylvania deputies that three white males approached the pharmacy counter and Skebo said the the pharmacist gave the male a bag with an undisclosed amount of narcotics. No one was injured and no weapon was displayed furing the robbery.

Spotsylvania Sheriff's Detective Frank Corona also learned through this investigation enough evidence to charge a 17-year-old juvenile male with a separate robbery on April 21 at the Rite Aid at 11129 Gordon Rd. At about 12:27 p.m. on April 21, a young white male had been in the store for an hour before he approached the pharmacy counter with a note demanding prescription painkillers. The pharmacist complied and gave the male an unknown amount of prescription painkillers. No one was injured and no weapon was displayed during the robbery.
