Fredericksburg First Night 2013

A non-alcoholic, family friendly New Year's Eve celebration of the arts in historic downtown Fredericksburg.

The 18th annual Fredericksburg First Night will be celebrated downtown beginning at 7 p.m. New Year's Eve.

The non-alcoholic, family friendly celebration of the arts features a variety of events and entertainment at various downtown venues.  The complete schedule is online.  The night's festivities will be capped by fireworks.

These streets will be closed from 2 p.m. Monday through 4 a.m. Tuesday:

  • 600-900 blocks of Sophia Street and Caroline Street
  • 100-200 blocks of George Street, Hanover Street and Charlotte Street

Details are provided in this map.

Tickets in the form of buttons are $10 in advance (available at these locations) and $15 at the event (available at the Sales/Information/Lost and Found trailer at the 800 block of Caroline Street).  Past or present military members and their spouse receive 50 percent off admission with the proper ID.  Children three and under are free.

Parking is available in the Sophia Street Parking Garage, the VRE lot and City Dock, 207 Sophia St.  Free FRED bus service will be available at the lots from 6:45 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. for button holders.  Trolley rides are no charge with a First Night Button.

The event is held rain or shine, and there are no refunds.  Pets are not allowed, due to the crowds and the fireworks.
