It's the weekend before Thanksgiving, and Fredericksburg offers many events and places to give to those in need, as well as several activities to prepare for the Holidays. Click on the links to learn more. 

Operation Christmas Child: National Collection Week

  • Where: Fairview at River Club Church, Hollywood Church of the Brethren, Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Gordon Road Church of God, Hanover Baptist Church
  • When: All weekend
  • Why Go: Fill a shoe box gift box with school supplies, toys and other items for a child in need this Christmas.
  • Price: FREE

Preschool Palette: Autumn Fun Workshop

  • When: Friday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m.

Jingle Bell Carriage Rides

  • Where: Fredericksburg Visitor Center

  • Why Go: Experience your own sleigh ride through the streets of downtown, complete with holiday music, cookies and the Christmas sites of Fredericksburg.

Disney’s Mulan Jr.

  • Where: The Young Adult Children’s Theater of Stafford

  • Why Go: Theater for children and families, see the musical retelling of a Disney classic

Eugenius

  • Where: University of Mary Washington Dodd Auditorium

St. Jude Give Thanks Walk

  • Where: Spotsylvania Towne Centre

  • Why Go: A family friendly event to help raise money to help St. Jude Children's Research Hospital fight cancer and other diseases in children.

Trains at Christmas Show

  • Where: Fredericksburg National Guard Armory
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Enjoy model railroads and buy supplies from several vendors

The Salvation Army’s Inaugural Kettle Cook-Off

  • Where: The Village Greens at Spotsylvania Towne Centre
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 17, 11 a.m.
  • Why Go: Help raise money for the Salvation Army’s “Hope for the Holidays” program, which benefits local families with food, clothing and books. Sample “one-kettle” dishes from a variety of local restaurants, as well as side items and drinks.

Workout to Pig Out

  • Where: Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio

  • Why Go: Join this two hour Dance trance jam fitness class to workout before Thanksgiving Day.

Years of Anguish: Struggle at Fredericksburg

  • Where: Fredericksburg Baptist Church
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 17, 1 - 5 p.m.
  • Why Go: Listen to talks by three historians on the Battle at Fredericksburg, in the sanctuary of the Baptist Church that was used as a field hospital during the battle.

Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio’s 10th Anniversary Party
