Roads May Be Icy Tonight

Fredericksburg saw its first real snowfall of the year Friday night and the pavement remains wet with freezing conditions expected overnight.

The Virginia Department of Transportation cleared most major roadways overnight but it warns that the roads will remain wet as snow melts.

The Fredericksburg area public safety agencies did not report any major vehicle wrecks Friday night during the city's first real snow fall for the year. There were about a dozen or so weather-related wrecks reported over the scanner Friday night and into Saturday morning in the city and Spotsylvania County.

Motorists should use caution on the roads, especially driving over bridge overpasses. Temperatures are expected to fall in the mid-20s this evening.
