Terry McAuliffe's No. 1 Priority as Governor

Terry McAuliffe won a close election Tuesday against Republican Ken Cuccinelli, going from favored candidate to governor-elect.

He has a big job ahead of him. Transportation, as always, is in need of attention. The economy is doing OK, but not great. McAuliffe campaigned hard on social issues, such as gay rights and so-called women’s concerns, such as access to contraception and safe abortion clinics.

And he championed the expansion of Medicaid. And more.

That will require some prioritizing.
