Dogtopia Grand Opening in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Dogtopia, a leading national dog daycare, spa and boarding franchise, announced today the grand opening of its newest location in Fredericksburg, located at 4272 Plank Road. Fredericksburg residents will now have a convenient place to take their beloved canines for fun and pampered play. Dogtopia of Fredericksburg is owned by husband-and-wife team, Lynn & Matt Konetschni, who are excited to bring this unique business to the community.

A grand opening celebration will take place at Dogtopia of Fredericksburg on Saturday, June 21 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Canine guests will enjoy dog training demonstrations by Bully Brigade, healthcare information from Four Paws Animal Hospital, all natural homemade treats from Knick-Knack Paddy-Whack and a chance to win a photo session with Lil Pals Pet Photography. Food, raffle prizes and tours of the facility will be offered to the human companions during the event.

“We started as Dogtopia clients and were impressed with the owners as well as the teams and really appreciated the emphasis they put on “doing the right things” in care of dogs,” says franchise owner Lynn Konetschni. “Fredericksburg is a very dog-friendly community and we are excited to provide a positive option for the care of their beloved family dogs, with convenient extended hours to support the commuters in the area.”

Lynn previously worked in field of Human Resources, and although she experienced success in this rewarding career, as a passionate dog owner, she has longed to pursue a career working directly with dogs. Lynn already embodies the Dogtopia value of active community service by her volunteer work for the Washington Animal Rescue League (WARL). Matt grew up with Springer Spaniels and truly enjoys the companionship of dogs. He will assist Lynn from a business perspective as he continues his career as the Director of Education for the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA). Lynn and Matt currently reside in Fredericksburg with their son Cooper, and their dogs, a Yellow Lab rescue, Rex and Chocolate Lab, Kai.

“We are very excited to see the continued growth of Dogtopia in the Greater Washington DC/Virginia area,” said Amy Nichols, CEO of Dogtopia.  “Lynn’s corporate experience and clear passion for animals, coupled with Matt’s extensive business and leadership background makes them a great team to lead Dogtopia of Fredericksburg."

Since Dogtopia launched in 2002, it has grown to 29 locations with 15 additional currently under development nationwide. The Dogtopia system includes both franchise and company-owned stores. There are currently 8 regional developers representing 95 future Dogtopia locations.  Dogtopia’s design and color scheme mirrors that of an upscale spa, yet is laid out in a similar manner to a children’s daycare facility, there are multiple playrooms to suit every dog’s personality and size. In addition to daycare and boarding, Dogtopia also offers a spa, self-service dog wash and a boutique to pamper dogs of all shapes and sizes.

The division of dogs between rooms allows Dogtopia personnel to control air quality, prevent accidents, and provide an overall stress-free atmosphere. Generally, 25-30 dogs play in each room, and Dogtopia employs web camera technology in each room that allows the dogs’ owners to check on their pets during playtime.  Providing additional peace of mind, the entire Dogtopia of Fredericksburg team is trained on dog behavior and proper canine health and safety standards such as CPR and first aid.
