Drowning Tragedy: Family Raising Money for Funeral Costs
MaKayla Carter, 7, died Friday in Spotsylvania County.
Two online fundraising campaigns have been created to support the family of a 7-year-old girl who drowned Friday.
The body of MaKayla Carter, 7, was found in the water near a planned fireworks celebration in the Lake Wilderness subdivision of Spotsylvania County.
Two GoFundMe fundraisers have been set up to support MaKayla's family and help with funeral costs. As of Tuesday morning, more than $6,000 had been raised between the two.
Lauren Hill Funeral Home is also accepting donations to cover the cost of her services, according to Fredericksburg.com.
