First Night Fredericksburg and Other New Year Celebrations

It's time to prepare for the countdown to 2014.  Here are known events in the Fredericksburg area.  Click the hyperlinks for more information. (Updated 8 a.m. Dec. 29)

NEW YEAR'S EVE, Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013

• First Night Fredericksburg: 6 p.m. - 12:15 a.m., Downtown Fredericksburg.  Music, food, entertainment. Globe drop and midnight countdown begin at 11:40 p.m. at Sophia and George streets.  Admission buttons are required for everyone three years and older to attend the indoor and tent area performances and ride the trolley. Admission is $5 in advance, $8 at the event.  Children 3 and under are free.

• Bellydancing Showcase by Prism Dancers: 8:30 - 9:15 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 803 Princess Anne St.  Part of First Night Fredericksburg.

• Ring in the New Year at the Silk Mill: 8 p.m. - 1 a.m. at Inn at the Old Silk Mill, 1707 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg.  Dinner, dancing, fireworks, balloon drop, champagne toast.  $135 per couple.  Special rates for overnight accommodations.

• New Year's Eve at Liberty Center: 3 - 5 p.m. Pizza and Bowling Special; 6 - 9 p.m. Family Bowling Special; 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. Ring in the New Year Special; at Liberty Center, 5801 Southpoint Centre Blvd., Fredericksburg.

• New Year's with the Transmitters at Kenmore Inn: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. dinner in the main dinning room at the Kenmore Inn, 1200 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg. Live reggae music by the Transmitters begins at 9.  Tickets are $35 ($30 for dinner patrons) and include hors d’oeuvres, a drink ticket and dancing.  Call 540.371.7622 for reservations.

• New Year's Eve with Frankenfut at The Colonial Tavern: 9 p.m. at The Colonial Tavern, 406 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg.  "New line up, same rock and roll."

• New Year's Eve Ball Drop & Xbox One Giveaway: 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings Southpoint, Fredericksburg.  Club-style celebration with three DJs.

• Park Lane's New Orleans Style Masquerade Ball: 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. at Park Lane Bar & Grill, 1 Towne Centre Blvd, Fredericksburg.  Costumes and masks are not required, but encouraged. Prizes for the best costume and mask will be given hourly, beginning at 9 p.m. New Orleans style dinner, music by DJ JRB, balloon drop with cash and prizes.  No cover. 
  
  

• 'First Day Hikes' New Year's Day at Virginia State Parks

• Jingle Bell Carriage Rides: November 3 - January 3, 706 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.  Jingle Bell Rides are available every evening except Monday, through Jan. 3.  Reservations for the carriage rides are recommended. $100 - $120, depending on carriage purchased for the evening. 

• The Village at Towne Centre Holiday in Lights: Nov. 10 - Dec. 31, 7 - 10 p.m. at The Village at Towne Centre, 137 Spotsylvania Mall Dr., Fredericksburg.  Free shows nightly at 6:30 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30.

• Splitsville Holiday Break Special: Dec. 20 – Jan. 1 say the code word FredParent and receive free shoe rental for the group and a free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult meal.

• White Christmas at Riverside Center: Nov. 30 - Jan. 4 at Riverside Center, 95 Riverside Parkway, Fredericksburg.  Show times and ticket prices are online.
