Unfortunately, there was little luck with the eagles this morning. Foggy and misting, mama sat in the nest protecting her eggs. So I'm sharing a few shots from the first eagle shoot.
I've learned that during the incubation period it usually is mama in the nest. According to baldeagleinfo.com, the brooding parent sometimes calls for relief or may be reluctant to leave and have to be pushed off the eggs. An eagle stays in the nest 98% of the time, rarely leaving them alone, not only to keep them warm but to protect them from ravens, squirrels and gulls.
Since I only have a misty photo to show you, I'm going to direct you to the eagle cam in Richmond. Their first egg recently hatched and it's an interesting video to watch.
