Dean Ankeny, 81

Dean William Ankeny, 81, of Fredericksburg passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Ankeny was a USMC veteran having served in the Korean War and been awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Fredericksburg VFW Post 3103. Mr. Ankeny enjoyed hunting in Montana and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ankeny of Fredericksburg; sons Marlin of Grantsville, MD and Warren of Fredericksburg; sister Mary Kay Marshall of Brockway, PA; four grandchildren Marlin Jr., Nicole, Dylan and Brandon; and three great grandchildren, Marlee, Chloe and Devin.

A service will be held at Noon Monday, April 7 at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford chapel. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to Noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
